Good to know

Corporate tax, answered.

Who has to pay corporate tax in the UAE?
Corporate tax applies to UAE companies and to individuals carrying on a business, including most Free Zone and Mainland companies. Almost every taxable person must register with the FTA, even if their profit is below the AED 375,000 threshold and they pay 0%.
What is the UAE corporate tax rate?
The rate is 0% on taxable income up to AED 375,000 and 9% on taxable income above it. The 9% is charged on profit, not revenue, and only on the portion over the threshold, which keeps the effective rate low.
Do Free Zone companies pay corporate tax?
A Qualifying Free Zone Person can keep a 0% rate on its qualifying income when it meets the conditions, such as adequate substance and qualifying activities, and pays 9% on income that does not qualify. We assess whether your Free Zone company qualifies before you rely on the 0% rate.
When do I have to register for corporate tax?
Registration is mandatory and the deadline depends on your license. The FTA applies a AED 10,000 penalty for registering late, so we register you within your window and secure your Corporate Tax Registration Number.
When is the corporate tax return due?
The return and any payment are due within nine months of the end of your tax period. For a calendar-year business, that means a return by the following 30 September. We file on time, every period.
Is there relief for small businesses?
Yes. Small Business Relief lets a resident business with revenue under AED 3 million elect to be treated as having no taxable income for the period. It is a time-limited relief, so we confirm whether your year still qualifies.
How long must I keep my records?
Taxable persons must keep records and supporting documents for seven years after the end of the tax period. We maintain FTA-ready books and store them so you are always ready for a review.
Can you handle the whole corporate tax process?
Yes. We cover FTA registration, bookkeeping, computing taxable income, applying reliefs and filing the return, then advise you on the year ahead. One advisor handles it from start to finish.
