Why it matters

What a remote work visa gives you.

The virtual working visa lets you live in the UAE on income earned abroad. It is the cleanest way to base yourself in Dubai without a local job or company, and it opens the Emirates ID, banking and family life that come with residency.

One advisor checks your eligibility, files the visa, and sets up the Emirates ID and family file.

  • Live here, work there

Keep your overseas job or clients and make the UAE your home base. The visa is built for income earned outside the country, with no local employer needed.

  • Emirates ID and banking

A remote work visa unlocks the Emirates ID, a personal bank account, a SIM, a tenancy contract and a local driving license, the everyday essentials of living here.

  • Bring your family

Sponsor your spouse and children under your visa so the whole household relocates together, with school and healthcare access in place.

  • A tax-friendly base

The UAE levies no personal income tax, so your overseas earnings are not taxed locally. Pair the visa with a tax residency certificate to claim treaty benefits.

The process

From eligibility check to a stamped passport.

Most virtual working visas are issued in one to two weeks. One advisor carries you through all five steps, and comes with you to the medical and biometric appointments.

  1. 01

    Day 1

    Check eligibility

We confirm your profile, employee, owner or freelancer, against the income and contract criteria, so you only apply once you clearly qualify.

  2. 02

    Day 1 to 3

    Prepare the file

Passport, photo, employment or ownership proof, three months of bank statements, a recent salary slip and valid health insurance are gathered and checked.

  3. 03

    Day 3 to 5

    We apply

Your application is lodged with the UAE virtual working programme and tracked to approval, with any queries answered on your behalf.

  4. 04

    Day 5 to 7

    Approval and entry

The approval and entry permit are issued. If you are abroad, you travel in on it; if you are here, we move straight to the status change.

  5. 05

    Day 7 to 12

    Medical and Emirates ID

We complete the medical, the Emirates ID biometrics and the visa stamp, then add family sponsorship and a driving-license exchange where they apply.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked Questions

How much does the UAE remote work visa cost?

A single-applicant virtual working visa typically starts from around AED 3,500 for the year, including the government fees, medical and Emirates ID, with health insurance arranged separately. Adding a spouse or children increases the total. We quote one fixed, all-in price up front, with government charges passed through at cost.

What income do I need for the UAE remote work visa?

The UAE virtual working programme requires proof of a minimum monthly income, generally from about USD 3,500, supported by recent payslips and three months of bank statements. Employees show an employment contract valid for at least a year, while business owners show company ownership of a year or more and the income it produces. We confirm the current threshold for your case before you apply.

How long does the remote work visa last?

The remote work visa is valid for one year and is renewable for as long as you continue to meet the income and employment criteria. We start the renewal before the visa expires so there is no overstay and no gap in your residency. If you plan to stay long term, setting up a UAE company for an investor visa is often more cost-effective over time.

Can I bring my family on a remote work visa?

Yes. Once your own remote work visa is issued, you can sponsor your spouse and children under it, subject to the income threshold. You will need attested marriage and birth certificates, and we handle the attestation and the dependant applications as one file so the household is covered together.

Can I work for a UAE company on a remote work visa?

No. The virtual working visa is specifically for income earned outside the UAE, whether from a foreign employer, your own overseas company or international clients. If you want to take a job with a UAE company, you need an employment visa, which the employer sponsors, and we can move you onto that route instead.

Do I pay tax in the UAE on a remote work visa?

The UAE levies no personal income tax, so the salary or freelance income you earn from abroad is not taxed locally. Your home country may still tax you depending on its rules and your tax residency. We help eligible residents obtain a UAE tax residency certificate, which can be used to claim double-taxation treaty benefits.

What documents do I need for the remote work visa?

Most applicants need a passport valid for at least six months, a passport-style photo, proof of employment or company ownership, a recent salary slip, three months of bank statements and valid UAE health insurance. Requirements vary slightly by profile, so we send an exact checklist up front and review everything before submission.

Remote work visa or a Free Zone company, which is better?

If your income comes entirely from abroad and you want a simple one-year base, the remote work visa is the cleanest option. If you also want to invoice UAE clients, build a local business or stay for several years, a Free Zone company with an investor visa usually wins, since it gives a longer residency and a tradable license. We compare both on cost and fit before you decide.
