Why it matters

What an investor visa gives you.

More than a residence stamp. The investor visa ties your residency to your own company rather than an employer, and turns your shareholding into banking, an Emirates ID and a base for your whole family.

The Dubai skyline, where UAE investor visa holders base their companies

A renewable residence visa, earned through your own UAE company.

  • Renewable residency

A residence visa valid for two to three years, renewable as long as you hold your qualifying shares. No employer renewing it on your behalf.

  • No employer needed

You are sponsored by your own company, not an employer. Run the business, draw a salary or simply hold shares, all on your own residency.

  • Sponsor your family

Sponsor your spouse, children and domestic helpers under your file, subject to the usual salary and accommodation rules.

  • Banking and Emirates ID

Your residency unlocks a personal and corporate bank account, your Emirates ID, and the right to exchange your driving license.

  • A step toward the Golden Visa

Scale your investment to AED 2 million and move up to the 10-year Golden Visa, with the same advisor carrying the file forward.

  • Any emirate, any Free Zone

Mainland or one of 40-plus Free Zones, from Dubai to Ajman. We match the lowest-cost qualifying route to where you want to base.

Who qualifies

Six ways to qualify.

The investor visa rewards a qualifying stake in a UAE company, or a qualifying property. Find the route that fits, or let an advisor confirm the lowest-cost one against the latest thresholds.

  • Most popular

    Free-zone shareholders

    Shares from AED 50,000

Own shares worth at least AED 50,000 in a UAE free-zone company. The most accessible and most popular route, often bundled with the license itself.

  • Mainland partners

    Shares from AED 75,000

Hold a partner or shareholder stake of at least AED 75,000 in a Mainland LLC, or establish one with the same capital, to qualify as an investor or partner.

  • New company Entrepreneurs

    Set up and visa together

If you do not yet have a company, we form the qualifying company and file your investor visa in a single engagement, so your license and residency are issued together.

  • Existing-company investors

    Buy into a UAE company

Invest in or buy shares of an existing Mainland or free-zone company to qualify for the investor or partner visa, with the share transfer handled for you.

  • Property investors

    Property from AED 750,000

For those who prefer real estate, a completed UAE property worth AED 750,000 or more opens a separate investor route, with no company required.

  • Golden Visa investors

    From AED 2,000,000

Scale your company or property investment to AED 2 million and step up to the self-sponsored, 10-year Golden Visa instead.

Questions and answers

Frequently asked Questions

Who qualifies for a UAE investor visa?

Anyone holding qualifying shares in a UAE company qualifies: a free-zone shareholding worth at least AED 50,000, or a Mainland partner or shareholder stake of at least AED 75,000. Property investors with real estate worth AED 750,000 or more have a separate route. We confirm your category against the latest rules before you apply.

How much does an investor visa cost in the UAE?

Government and processing fees for the visa, medical and Emirates ID usually run a few thousand dirhams, and the figure changes by emirate and Free Zone. Cheaper zones such as Ajman cost noticeably less than central Dubai. The larger number is your qualifying investment, which stays yours. We pass government charges through at cost and give you one all-in quote, our fee included, before you commit.

What is the difference between an investor visa and a partner visa?

They are the same residence visa. The label simply reflects your role in the company: an investor usually owns the business outright, while a partner is one of several shareholders. Both are based on your qualifying shareholding, and both give you self-sponsored residency, family sponsorship and the same renewal terms.

How long is the investor visa valid?

The investor visa is issued for two or three years depending on the emirate and Free Zone, and it is renewable as long as you continue to hold your qualifying shares. It is shorter than the 10-year Golden Visa, but the threshold to qualify is far lower.

Can I work and sponsor my family on an investor visa?

Yes. The investor visa is self-sponsored through your own company, so you can run the business and draw a salary. You can also sponsor your spouse, children and domestic helpers under your file, subject to the usual minimum salary and accommodation requirements.

Do I need to set up a company first?

You need a qualifying shareholding, so most applicants start with a company. If you do not have one, we form the company and file your investor visa in the same engagement, so the license and residency arrive together. If you already hold shares, we go straight to the visa.

Can I upgrade from an investor visa to the Golden Visa?

Yes. If you scale your company or property investment to AED 2 million, you can move up to the self-sponsored, 10-year Golden Visa. The same advisor who handled your investor visa carries the file forward, so you are not starting from scratch.

Can FZM handle the whole process?

Yes. We set up or structure the company, register the establishment card and e-channel, apply for the entry permit, manage the status change, and arrange your medical, Emirates ID and visa stamping. We then set up your family sponsorship. You work with one advisor from the initial consultation through to the stamped passport.
